Meet The Chef
Hey!
I'm Chef Sabrina, and I'm here to give you interesting, delicious, global comfort food and amazing out-of-the-box sweet treats.
My goal is to broaden your palette, give you a surprise in every dish, and show that soul food isn't only found in "Soul Food".
I grew up in Detroit, MI.
It's a diverse, amazing, eclectic city that hustles harder than any other, and its where my no nonsense work ethic was instilled in me. My parents are from the South, so I grew up with the "Soul Food" staples, learning the basics of cooking at an early age.
In 2009, I moved to Houston, TX and my culinary world exploded!
I enrolled in The Art Institute of Houston and began learning varying global cuisines, earning my AAS-Culinary Arts degree in 2011.
Houston is a melting pot, and seemingly every culture is highlighted in their culinary scene. My love of the Middle Eastern, Asian and South Asian cuisines flourished.
I was able to see that other chefs of color weren't staying inside their given cultural cuisine boxes, but instead, were stepping outside and creating amazing, unique, fusion food. I wanted to do the same.
I was fortunate enough to be taught by world class chefs, work alongside world renown chefs, and grow abundantly as a creative culinarian with my own style.
In 2014, I started my baking business, Eclectic Cake Company, as a respite from my repetitive kitchen days. I didn't care for baking while in school, but found it to be a zen space for me over time, and a chance to get my creative juices flowing. I committed to teaching myself the nuances of baking, and I've since created amazing sweets for countless people, and I still love it just as much as when I started.
In 2017, I moved to Los Angeles where I was honored to cook for A-list celebrities, work in studios I've only seen on tv, and experience a completely different, easy-going vibe in the kitchen world.
In 2020, I started Mirage: A Traveling Supper Club, and began this online bakery and meal prep site that your'e on right now;
Eclectic Eats: Sweet & Savory.
In my culinary career, I've held every line position possible, I've broken barriers, and I've surprised myself.
I've cooked for former Presidents, mayors, celebrities, a multitude of hungry everyday people, and I'm still striving for better.
I've created Eclectic Eats to share my love of cookery, art, and science, with you.
With this business, I intend to expand my culinary repertoire, and provide amazing gourmet food and sweets to your table.
Fine dining style fusion food is what I do, so expect exciting, expect different, expect more.
